About Dream Cafe

Owner and founder, Mary O'Brien, opened her first location on Knox St. in 1985 with the help of her brother Grady O'Brien. The Dream eventually moved to The Quadrangle in Uptown in 1988 and were happy to call that home for 30 years, with stars such as Tom Cruise, Bono from U2, Dallas natives Owen and Luke Wilson, and many others visiting our restaurant. In 2021 we moved our Uptown location a block over onto McKinney Ave. where you can still find Mary as well as her daughter Ema there daily. Over the years we have had locations in Oak Cliff and Addison and have fond memories of our times there. Mary franchised a location in Lakewood to a long-time manager and employee, Christine Lott, in 2010 and look forward to her opening another franchise location in Richardson at the end of 2024.

We offer a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options as well as Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten-Free substitutions.

Indulge in our famous Austin Tacos and Cloud Cakes, or start your week off healthy with a Go Green Juice and Keto. Be sure to keep an eye out for our seasonal specials such as a Vegan Banana Pancake and Cream Cheese Pumpkin Muffin!
